Step-by-Step Guide: Adding Trendos RSS Feed to Slack

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up a new Slack channel, adding an RSS feed, and inviting your team members. Combined with Trendos Smart Product Alerts, your team will get actionable competitor signals right inside Slack.
Step 1: Create a New Slack Channel
- Open Slack and navigate to your workspace.
- On the left sidebar, click the "+" (plus) icon next to Channels.
- Select Create a channel.
- Name your channel-make sure the name reflects the content (e.g., #competitor-updates).
- Choose if you want the channel to be public (anyone in your workspace can join) or private (invite-only).
- Add a Channel description to specify the purpose of the channel.
- Click Create.
Step 2: Add Internal Company Users to the Channel
- After the channel is created, click the Add people button at the top.
- Type the names or email addresses of the users you want to invite.
- Click Invite to add them to the channel.
Step 3: Add the RSS Feed to the Channel
- In your Slack workspace, go to the channel where you want the RSS feed updates.
- Type
/feed subscribe [your-RSS-feed-url]in the message input box.
Example: /feed subscribe https://example.com/competitor-updates.rss - Press Enter. Slack will now start posting updates from the RSS feed in the channel.
Step 4: Manage or Unsubscribe from the Feed (Optional)
- To see all current feeds in the channel, type
/feed list. - To remove a feed, type
/feed unsubscribe [your-RSS-feed-url]and press Enter.
Your Slack channel is now set up with the RSS feed and your team members are ready to receive updates.
